Hermés Birkin Handbag

Hermés Runway

One of my most longstanding weaknesses for all things gorgeous goes to the House of Hermés.  At just twenty-one I purchased my first Hermés accessory – the most stunning leopard bath mat. Recently, I was looking through an Hermés store and saw that same bath mat. I hadn’t thought about in years! I was as wild for that piece now as when I was as a college girl … I always say “good design gets better over time”.

Hermés has recently introduced a new furniture line and I am in love, but to fully appreciate the present it is good to visit the past.  Jacque Adnet, a brilliant designer with a penchant for fine leather, worked often with Hermés in the 1950’s – his furniture line was a smashing success, and is much coveted today.

The round mirror that is featured here has been copied so frequently – I forgot that it originated with Adnet!

A perfect example – buy gorgeous, high-quality design and it gets better with age!
